El primer día que fue a trabajar, se puso muy nerviosa cuando su jefe, el gerente general de la empresa, le dictó una carta de cotización. Sin embargo, a medida que avanzaban los días, ella iba adquiriendo confianza. Su jefe era michoacano, como de sesenta años, de cabello cano, un tipo muy amable que la trataba muy bien.
Luisa was extremely happy because she had finished her courses to become a bilingual secretary and the school's employment office had obtained a very good job for her in a NorthAmerican company.
Her first day at work was not easy: She was extremely nervous when her boss, the CEO of the Company dictated a quotation letter to her. However, she became more and more confident every day. Her boss was an old guy from Michoacán, México, about seventy-years-old and gray hair. He was really a nice person who treated her gently.
Un mes más tarde, el subgerente de la empresa empezó a acosarla sexualmente. Ella se lo comentó a su jefe y el acoso terminó en una disculpa que ella aceptó de inmediato. Después, su jefe, Don Ignacio, habló luego con ella y le dijo que no regalara tantas sonrisas porque algunos jóvenes podrían malinterpretarlas y propasarse con ella. Además, él le pidió que se vistiera de una manera más conservadora con el fin de no distraer a los empleados puesto que era indiscutiblemente muy atractiva por su figura, su cabello negro y sus enormes ojos azules. Ella aceptó los consejos y le dijo a Don Ignacio que modificaría su atuendo y su comportamiento.
A month later, the vicepresident of the company started sexually harassing her. She immediately talked to her boss about it and the vicepresident offered her an apology which she accepted immediately. Afterwards, Don Ignacio told her not to smile all the time because some of the employees might misinterpret it and behave inappropriately with her. In addition, he asked her to dress more discretely because if she kept on dressing like she did, she would divert the attention of too many people. Her green eyes, black hair and marvellous body was already a distraction for many of them, she did not need to go any extra mile to make her look any more attractive. She agreed and said she would change her behavior and the way she dressed.
Todo marchó muy bien durante seis meses pero una mañana como cualquier otra, al llegar al trabajo, le dijeron que Don Ignacio había fallecido. Todos los empleados de la compañía fueron al sepelio debido al cariño que Don Nacho se había ganado en buena ley, ayudando siempre a cualquiera que lo necesitara.
Everything was going fine during the next six months but one morning, like any other, when she arrived at the office, she was told that Don Ignacio had died. Every employee in the company went to the burial because he had been such a great person who had won everybody’s affection as he used to help anybody who needed anything.
Después siguieron las malas noticias: El subgerente iba a ocupar el puesto que había dejado vacante el difunto. Luisa tuvo el impulso de renunciar, pero la situación económica de su familia no era buena ya que al papá lo habían despedido, junto a más de trescientos empleados de la compañía Sony, México, en donde laboraba. Y para colmo, su hermano Gerardo se había peleado a golpes con su jefe y naturalmente también había perdido el trabajo. Así que Luisa no tuvo más remedio que permanecer en su empleo. Ingenuamente, ella pensó que el subgerente no se le acercaría nuevamente con malas intenciones. Sólo un mes pasó para que su nuevo jefe, el Lic. López, le trajera un ramo de rosas. Entonces, ella le dijo: " Licenciado, le agradezco el obsequio pero mi novio es sumamente celoso por lo que no puedo aceptarlas". Él le respondió: "Mira chiquita, tú eres mi empleada y tendrás que aceptar lo que yo te dé, haga o diga; si es que deseas conservar tu empleo." Ella bajó la cabeza y se llevó las flores.
But then came more bad news: The vicepresident, Mr. Juan López would become her boss now. Luisa thought of quitting but she could not: Her father was working for Sony and this company decided to let him go along with 300 people; and her brother had the bad idea of having a fist fight with his boss, so both her father and brother were unemployed, thus, she could not quit her job. Then, Luisa had a naïve thought, wishful thinking, maybe her new boss would not make any more advances. Yet, only a month went by when the new CEO called her to give her some flowers which she refused saying: “You know my fiancé is extremely jealous, so I cannot take that from you”. He retorted: “Listen, baby, I am your boss so, you have to accept anything I give, tell you, or do to you, in case this is not acceptable you may resign at any time. She nodded down and took away the flowers he gave her.
Al día siguiente, el Lic. López llegó muy enojado y mandó llamar a Luisa. "¡¡¡Luisa qué rayos le dijiste al gerente corporativo!!! Esta mañana me llamó y me dijo que pasara a recoger mis pertenencias y que estaba despedido. ¡Esto es tu culpa estúpida!!" Con mucho temor, ella le dijo en voz baja que ella no había comentado nada con persona alguna. Entonces, él se dirigió a la puerta de su oficina y la azotó para luego cerrarla con llave. Luisa se asustó y se fue a un rincón. Él se dirigió con paso lento hacia donde estaba ella y por el pánico que le provocó la situación no pudo ni siquiera gritar. Él se quitó los pantalones, levantó la falda de Luisa, le desgarró la pantimedia y la penetró sin que ella pudiera impedirlo.
Next day, Mr. López came rushing by and sent for Luisa. “Luisa what the hell did you say to the corporate manager, this morning he called and told me to come to the office to pick up my things, he fired me bitch, it’s your damn fault!” She was terrified, she said in a barely audible voice that she had made no comment about him to anybody. Then, he went to the door and locked it. She ran to a corner, next she panicked. He walked towards her looking furious, took off his pants and underware and before she moved a finger he had already taken her skirt up, tore her panties and penetrated her. She could not have stopped him because she was frozen with fear.
Luisa terminó llorando desconsoladamente. Él le dijo que no hiciera tanto drama y cuando él se dirigió hacia la puerta, escuchó cómo los cristales del ventanal de su oficina se rompían en mil pedazos, Luisa había lanzado un pisapapeles del escritorio contra el cristal para romperlo y en seguida lanzarse desde el quinto piso del edificio en donde estaba, rumbo a su muerte en el pavimento de la Avenida Reforma. López corrió hacia la ventana, se asomó y vio con horror el cuerpo de Luisa en medio de un charco de sangre y ya rodeada por una multitud.
Luisa ended up crying her eyes out. He told her not to make a scene and when he went towards the door he heard the noise of the shattered glass of a large window he had in his office, she had just broken it into a thousand pieces, next she threw herself out of the window, only to find death four floors below. He ran towards the broken window and peeped out to see where she had fallen, she was lying still in the middle of a puddle of blood on the sidewalk of Avenue Reforma, and already many people around her dead body.
Ella se había matado pero él era el culpable. Jamás olvidaría esa imagen. Se le acusó de haberla matado y se le sentenció a diez años de prisión. Cuando salió libre a los cinco años por buena conducta, nadie quiso darle empleo por lo que terminó en la miseria.
She had killed herself but he was to be blamed. He was charged with murder and sentenced to ten years imprisonment. Five years later, he was released for good behavior, but nobody would give him a job, so he ended up as a homeless beggar.
