Lucía le dijo a Enrique lo que se merecía y lo corrió de la casa, a causa de su severo alcoholismo, pero como la propiedad estaba a nombre de su esposo, ella terminó yéndose de ésta. Lucía, como se podría esperar, se fue a vivir con la madre -Doña Bertha- cuya vida era ya de por sí difícil porque estaba casada con un ex-marine minusválido que la torturaba constantemente por celos.
Lucía no soportaba el llanto de su bebé y cada vez que lo escuchaba enloquecía y se salía de la casa, dejando a la madre con la difícil tarea de calmar al bebé. Por más que Doña Bertha le pedía que no lo hiciera, Lucía continuaba con su comportamiento irresponsable.
Un día lluvioso de septiembre, Lucía le dijo a la madre que la iban a entrevistar ese día en la Cervecería Modelo y estaba muy entusiasmada. Ella tenía un solo vestido presentable, color azul marino que le quedaba muy bien. Ese día fue al salón de belleza a arreglarse el pelo muy temprano y cuando regresó, la mamá le pidió que cargara al bebé un instante. Lucía estaba sentada limpiándose los zapatos cuando recibió al bebé, lo puso en su regazo y éste se giró hacia ella y vomitó en su vestido nuevo. Ella enloqueció y azotó al bebé contra el piso.
La mamá estaba en la cocina cuando escuchó el sonido del golpe del bebé contra el piso de madera y llegó espantada hasta donde estaba el bebé en medio de un charco de sangre. Llamó de inmediato a la Cruz Roja pero fue inútil, la criatura había muerto a consecuencia del impacto. Enterraron al bebé al día siguiente.
Dos días más tarde, Lucía se presentaba frente al ministerio público, por orden de su propia madre, a fin de confesar su crimen.

Lucy told Henry what he had long coming on account of his heavey drinking: She told him to leave the house but since it belonged to him, she was the one who had to leave. So, as it could be expected she ended up going to live at her mother's house. Doña Bertha, her mom, had a difficult life already as she had married an exmarine who had no legs and annoyed her constantly because of his jealousy.
Lucy could not stand how much her one year-old baby cried and everytime she heard him crying she went mad and got away from the house, leaving her mother with the difficult task to calm down the baby. Doña Bertha asked her daughter not to do that anymore but Lucy continued behaving irresponsibly.
During a rainy day in September, Lucy told her mom that she was going to have a job interview at a beer factory called Cervecería Modelo and she was very excited. She only had one decent blue dress that fit her very becomingly. She had her hair fixed very early in the morning and when she got back from the beauty parlor, her mom asked her to hold the baby. Lucy was sitting down cleaning her shoes when she was handed in her son which she put on her lap, then he turned around and threw up on her new dress all he had eaten. She went nuts and threw the baby to the floor.
As the baby hit the floor with a thud, Doña Bertha came to the living room as fast as she could. Unfortunately, too late, the baby was lying down on a puddle of blood. She called 911 but to no avail because the baby had already died because of how hard he had hit the floor. The baby was buried the next day.
Two days later, Lucy went to the police station to declare herself guilty of having killed her baby, as she was ordered by Doña Bertha her own mother.
